M&S customers are warned to check freezers and not consume products

Marks and Spencer has warned all customers that they should not consume certain products they may have purchased due to health risks.

In a message to M&S customers, it said: “The safety of our customers is Marks & Spencer’s highest priority and we take all issues relating to the production of our food extremely seriously. As a precautionary measure, Marks & Spencer is taking the action of advising that four freshly cooked poultry products which have passed their use-by date but may be in customers’ freezers should be returned to store due to a low microbiological risk.”

The notice stressed that “no products currently on sale are affected.” Only the date codes listed below may be affected:

  • 4 fried chicken fillets (480 g) – Use by date: 21.03.2024, 22.03.2024, 23.03.2024 and 27.03.2024

  • “Just Add” British Roast Chicken Slices (120g) – Use by date: 22.03.2024, 24.03.2024, 25.03.2024, 26.03.2024 and 27.03.2024

  • Roasted turkey slices (120 g) – Use by date: 23.03.2024, 25.03.2024 and 26.03.2024

  • Fried chicken slices (130 g) – Best before date: 22.03.2024, 23.03.2024, 24.03.2024 and 25.03.2024

The recall notice continues: “Customers who have these products in their freezer are asked not to consume them. Return them to your nearest store for a full refund.”

“We apologize to our customers for any inconvenience. For further information please contact us on 03330 148555.”
