Droga5 appoints Mark Green as global CEO and adds The Monkeys to its network

Accenture Song has appointed The Monkeys CEO and co-founder Mark Green, head of Australia and New Zealand, as global CEO of Droga5 and plans to rebrand the Australian agency as Droga5.

Sydney-based Mark Green will relocate to New York to take the helm, reporting to London-based Dame Annette King, head of marketing at Accenture Song. Droga5’s local executives will report to Green, including London managing director Bill Scott and New York president Chioma Aduba. Scott will also have the additional role of managing director of Accenture Song UK and Ireland.

David Droga, global CEO of Accenture Song, said: “Mark is a proven leader who embodies these ambitions and will lead Droga5 to the next level of excellence and meaningful impact.”

In his new role, Green will oversee all of Droga5’s creative offices around the world, including those in Dublin, London, New York, São Paulo and Tokyo, alongside recently appointed Global Chief Creative Officer Pelle Sjoenell.

Droga said Droga5’s mission has always been to deliver creativity that is grounded in strategy and purpose and “obsessed with humanity.” “We create experiences that create deep connections with people and enrich their lives,” he said.

There has been no new CEO at Droga5 since Accenture promoted Sarah Thompson to head of global communications and content in January 2022. Thompson left the consulting giant later that same year.

Green said: “I firmly believe that creativity can impact businesses and people in a big and powerful way. We have proven that our combination of creative firepower and technological transformation is a recipe for success in today’s market.

“It is a privilege to take on this role at Droga5 and lead the company into its next chapter and I am especially excited to have the incredibly talented team at The Monkeys by my side on this journey.”

Droga5’s clients include JPMorgan and Chase, Molson Coors and Tourism Australia. Green’s successor to lead Accenture Song in Australia and New Zealand will be announced in due course.

The Monkeys, which was bought by Accenture in 2017, has won a Grand Prix at Cannes Lions in each of the past two years. The film won the Film Grand Prix in June for “Play it safe” celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Sydney Opera House and the 2023 Titanium Grand Prix for “The First Digital Nation” for the government of Tuvalu.

When Accenture Interactive was rebranded as Accenture Song in April 2022, Campaign announced that all of its agencies except Droga5 would be renamed Accenture Song. However, Rothco (Dublin) and Soko (São Paulo) both became part of Droga5.
