An angry traveler was filmed smashing an American Airlines counter with a hammer in Chile, moments after realizing he had been sold a fake airline ticket by a scammer.
The Haitian man flew into a violent rage late Monday night at Santiago’s Nuevo Pudahuel airport as he tried to check in for his American Airlines flight to Miami, Florida, local news agency Cooperativa reported.
Footage captured by passersby shows the construction worker, who was planning to stopover in Miami on his way to Haiti, suddenly rummaging through his work bag after an airline employee told him he could not board the flight.
He was filmed screaming as he climbed behind the counter and began destroying several television screens attached to it with the hammer.
The man then smashed several computer screens at the check-in counter, as shown in the clip.
The angry potential passenger caused about $20,000 in damage, authorities said.
He was eventually arrested by airport security and handed over to the police.
The Post has contacted American Airlines about the ordeal.
