An “aggressive” woman who was asked to exit a Frontier Airlines plane at Denver International Airport struck a flight attendant with an intercom, airline officials said.
The Tampa-bound flight was waiting at the gate for departure early Sunday, May 21, when the woman was asked to exit the plane, Frontier Airlines said in a statement to McClatchy News.
As she was being escorted out, she “picked up an intercom phone and hit a flight attendant with it,” the airline said.
Airport police arrested the woman, who is being investigated for assault, at 3:55 a.m., Denver police said in a statement to McClatchy News. She was later rebooked on another flight.
After the delay, Flight 708 departed for Tampa International Airport at 5:30 a.m., Frontier Airlines said.
“There is no place for violence anywhere, and certainly not on a mode of transportation where strict procedures are required to ensure the safety of everyone,” the Association of Flight Attendants (CWA) said in a statement to KDVR.
Statistics from the Federal Aviation Authority show that through May 14, 2023, there were 670 reports of unsettled passengers. In 2022, there were 2,455 reports of unsettled passengers.
