Video premiere of “Town Drunk” by Drew Green

When you grow up in a small town and you break up with someone, only one of you can keep the town. The other has to either move away or feel the heartache all over again every time they leave the house and see everything that reminds them of their ex everywhere. Unless, of course, they decide to just stay in the small town and never leave the house again.

That’s the solution Drew Green found for “Town Drunk.”

“I don’t wanna leave the house / I don’t wanna see you outside,” he sings on the excerpt from his latest Whisky on whisky EP released last week. “I’m becoming a different person / I’m killing bourbon ’cause I’m hurting a girl right now / And the only way I can stand it in this town is to stay drunk in this town.”

Now there is a matching, cozy video for the song, directed by Acacia Evans.

“Shooting the video for ‘Town Drunk’ was crazy because I never left the couch, but the producer somehow made it so interesting,” says Green. “It was such a fun day with the crew and I can’t wait to do more with them. I hope everyone enjoys the video and feels the emotions the producer and I tried to create – all from the couch.”

Born in McMinnville, Tennessee, Drew Green grew up on a tree farm, where his family introduced him to country artists such as Sammy Kershaw and Alan Jackson. As a teenager, he began to broaden his ear when friends introduced him to a mix of hip-hop, pop and R&B artists, including Usher, Craig David, Matchbox Twenty and Dr. Dre.

He played in bands in high school and continued to hone his songwriting skills in college. After graduating, Green settled in Nashville, singing in the house band at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge and working at a bank during the day while pursuing a career as a songwriter. He eventually broke into the industry, co-writing songs with HARDY and Hunter Phelps such as Florida Georgia Line’s “Colorado.”

Drew Green’s EP “Whiskey on Whiskey” is now available on RECORDS/Columbia Records.
