St. Cloud resident Dorothy “Pat” Rudd was recently celebrated by friends, family, fellow veterans and community leaders at St. Cloud’s VFW on her 103rd birthday. A Navy veteran, Rudd not only reached the incredible milestone of 103 years old, but continues to inspire all who are fortunate enough to know her. Her life, spanning over a century, is a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit and an enduring example of courage and dedication.

At the beginning of her remarkable career, Pat Rudd courageously enlisted in the United States Navy, defying societal expectations and paving the way for future generations of women in the military. As one of the few women serving at the time, Rudd faced numerous challenges, but her indomitable spirit and unwavering commitment to her country propelled her forward. She served with distinction, breaking barriers and shattering stereotypes along the way.

Rudd’s commitment to military service did not end with her time in the Navy. In 2023, Pat was invited to Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort, where she received a special tribute from the famous theme park. Pat’s late husband and U.S. Navy veteran Gerald Rudd helped build Frontierland before the resort’s opening on October 1, 1971.
