Party at Patoka returns to Bledsoe Farms in French Lick, Indiana on Sunday, September 1st for a huge Labor Day weekend party. The event will include bounce houses for the kids as well as bull rides, food trucks, merchandise vendors and of course live country music. The event will feature artists such as BIGG VINNY, Jake Dodds, Studebaker, Beau Avery and local favorite Sean Stemaly. The show will be headlined by Tyler Farr – the first artist to perform at Jason Aldean’s Night Train Records/BBR Music Group.

Sean Stemaly from Evansville on his way to the party in Patoka

Sean Stemaly is a graduate of Harrison High School and began his career as a singer at Crossroads Christian Church in Newburgh. At the age of 22, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he began writing and producing his own music. His latest project was released in July 2024 and is titled “4 Wheel-Low.” The album features 10 original songs, many of which pay tribute to his Hoosier roots. “Smoke in the Sky” is one of those songs.

“I love that song. It’s about life in Indiana and Kentucky,” Stemaly told me in a recent interview. “Sometimes I like to write songs that express my appreciation for the farm, and this was an idea me and a couple of buddies had one day.”

Stemaly noted that it’s been a few years since he last performed in Indiana and he’s looking forward to returning to the state for a big night of country music. He added that many of his friends and family will be coming to hear him sing during the Party at Patoka. (Perhaps his return to Indiana will serve as inspiration for a new song?)

Tyler Farr has three number one hits to his credit, including “Redneck Crazy,” “Whiskey in My Water,” and “A Guy Walks Into a Bar.” Farr burst onto the music scene in 2013 with the release of his debut album, “Redneck Crazy,” which debuted at number 2 on the Billboard Country Albums chart and number 5 on the Billboard Top 200. I spoke with Farr about his beginnings in country music, which began at the famous Tootsies Orchid Lounge in Nashville.

“I worked as a bouncer at Tootsies and eventually got a gig singing,” he said. “That’s where I started getting my teeth into how to entertain. I ended up working with several people who helped me along the way and then we had a number one hit with ‘Redneck Crazy.’ That really got things going.”

Farr has spoken openly about his friendship with country star Jason Aldean, who even signed him to his record label in 2019. In 2023, Farr released a six-song EP, including a song called “Rednecks Like Me.” Farr told me the EP’s title track was inspired by the brave men and women who serve our country.

“I had come back from a military tour overseas playing for our troops, and I wanted to write a song in honor of them and everything I believed in. That was our goal.”

The EP also featured a song featuring Jelly Roll. Farr added that the two met at several celebrity golf tournaments before asking the “I Am Not Okay” singer if he wanted to be on the song. When approached, Jelly Roll’s response was a resounding “Hell Yeah.”

“He’s a sweet guy and a super talented guy,” Farr said. “I was so happy, and I know Aldean was super happy, that he was able to step in and be a part of it.”

It’s safe to say guests are in for a treat when it comes to the country music lineup for Party at Patoka. The event is sponsored by Visit French Lick West Baden, Elmer Lambright Realtor and Leslie Williams Realtor. Tickets are available HERE.

14 Country Stars Who Quit Touring + 3 Tried But Failed

For these 17 country stars, life on tour was just too much.

On this list of stars who have stopped touring, you’ll find several legends in good health, as well as at least two (relatively) young hitmakers. Plus, you’ll find three artists who did it like Tom Brady – they wanted to retire, but life at home just wasn’t what they craved.

Country stars react to Post Malone’s new country music

It’s not enough to say that country stars are supporting Post Malone’s new, genre-bending album. Everyone we asked for a reaction to the new music praised the pop crossover artist and then took the time to explain why.

This isn’t polite admiration. Below are honest responses from eight stars who have worked with him or watched him broach the subject of a country album. They’re young and old, progressive and traditional. Unless otherwise noted, all quotes are from Taste of Country interviews.
