Since then I have been following her career and she really knows how to choose the perfect roles, not only for herself but also for those that will be a hit. So get ready for the ultimate binge-watching! Since the comedy-thriller debuted, it became a hit on Peacock and is popular with viewers. And we can’t wait for the second season to stream, as season 1 already premiered in June 2023.
Not only do we have the release date for you, but we also have a few other tidbits! Peacock has released the official synopsis of Based on a true story Season 2 and first pictures of what’s to come. There’s also some exciting news! Brooklyn Nine-Nine Actress Melissa Fumero has joined the cast as Drew, a new boyfriend of Ava. Check out the photo of the duo below after reading the description!
“In season 2 of ‘Based on a True Story,’ new parents Ava (Kaley Cuoco) and Nathan Bartlett (Chris Messina) have been parents for three months. Focused on her family, Ava is determined to resist her obsession with true crime and return to work as a real estate agent while Nathan coaches private tennis clients. But a series of new murders draws her back – is Matt (Tom Bateman) behind the murders? Is Tory (Liana Liberato), now embroiled in a relationship with Matt, in danger? For a while, life is good – Ava’s TikTok habit and her new friend Drew (Melissa Fumero) provide a welcome distraction and Nathan is fully committed to reviving his tennis career and his friendship with Matt – until danger literally knocks on the door.”

As you can see above, we have the married couple with their new baby, as well as a look at Ava and Drew together. I wonder what Fumero’s character brings to the story. She’s definitely a great addition.
Meanwhile, it seems that not only Nathan’s tennis career is going well, but also his friendship with serial killer Matt – also known as the Westside Ripper. The two are on the tennis court together. And as hinted at in the synopsis, Tory’s relationship with Matt will definitely complicate things and cause some wild entanglements.
And finally, the bloodiest and perhaps most notable images of all. We can definitely expect more murders and bloodshed, as the photos show Ava in a house covered in blood, and it seems like Matt just can’t stop his killing spree. He is holding a bloody axe and pointing it at someone. I am so excited and ready for what will happen in the next chapter of the story! How about you?
