Report: Google Photos could introduce one-tap editing on Android via video ‘presets’

Google Photos for Android could soon be updated with a new feature that will allow users to quickly edit their videos. The feature is currently unavailable to users and was found hidden in the app. These video presets reportedly include four new tools, each of which allows users to make certain edits to the entire video or a specific part. These presets are currently under development and could be rolled out to users in the future, according to a report. Notably, an earlier report claimed that Google Photos could potentially add a feature to block a person’s face from the app.

Google Photos could soon get a video presets feature

Android Authority has discovered a new feature in Google Photos version 6.97 that is currently hidden, meaning users cannot access it even if this version of the app is installed on their smartphone. The feature is said to be in Edit Option. The new Default The banner supposedly contains four options: Basic Cut, Slow Mo, Zoom and Track.

Each of these options is said to add a predefined edit to the video. Users are said to have the choice to apply the preset either to the entire video or to a portion of the video by selecting the duration and slides. Moreover, multiple presets can also be added to the same slide. However, it is said that video files cannot be exported if more than two edits are made.

The “Basic Cut” preset is designed to trim to the crucial moment and enhance colors. “Slow Mo” supposedly adds a slow motion effect to the selected frames of the video. “Zoom,” as the name suggests, zooms in and out of the selected area and can be useful for highlighting a far-away object. Finally, “Track” is designed to automatically track and zoom in on the main subject of the video.

However, it should be noted that this feature has been found in the app’s code and may or may not be rolled out by Google. More details about this feature cannot be ascertained until it is officially rolled out to users.
