Liverpool are preparing to give Pep Lijnders a “gift” after Red Bull Salzburg qualified for the Champions League, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Pep Lijnders has been making great progress since joining Red Bull Salzburg in the summer. The former assistant to Jürgen Klopp has not only given the team an unbeaten start but also secured their sixth consecutive qualification for the Champions League.

He has also been busy signing former Liverpool staff and players, including Vitor Matos and Andreas Kornmayer, and signed Bobby Clark for a transfer fee of £10 million.

But Lijnders could make even greater use of his connection to Liverpool.

Liverpool gives Pep Lijnders a Champions League gift

One player being linked with a move from Liverpool to Red Bull Salzburg is Stefan Bajcetic. The Spanish U21 international only recovered towards the end of last season from an injury that kept him out of action for almost a year.

He had promising experiences in the preseason under Arne Slot. However, to get into the best possible shape, he needs regular playing time.

For this reason, according to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have agreed to send Bajectic on loan to Salzburg, where he will work alongside Lijnders and have the opportunity to play in the Champions League.

Interestingly, Romano described the transaction for Bajcetic as a “gift” to Lijnders.

With so many former Salzburg players becoming key players at Liverpool, it is only right that the Reds now return the favour to the Austrian team.

Liverpool’s recruitment team will hope that Lijnders will soon return the favour as he nurtures the next generation of exciting Salzburg talent, including players such as Moussa Yeo, who could be an ideal future target for the Reds.
