The Baqî Xido Cultural and Art Center and the Hîlala Zêrîn Women’s Cultural and Art Movement organized the 7th Children’s Cultural and Art Festival in Kobanê under the motto “As children of fire and sun, let us overcome isolation with our culture and art. Let us regain our leadership role.” The festival opened on Saturday and continues today.
Dozens of children from the Euphrates Canton took part in the festival. Banners reading “Bê Serok jiyan nabe” and “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî” were hung in the hall.
At the opening of the festival, Fatma Xelîl, the leader of the Hîlala Zêrîn movement in the Euphrates Canton, said: “The enemy wants to massacre our people, our youth and our children. However, we will always thwart the plans of this enemy with our activities. The enemy can never break our will. The Kurdish people are known for their art, their theater, their poetry and their language.”
Xelîl added: “The aim of this festival is to revive the spirit of children by adhering to these cultural values. Just as mothers protect their cultural heritage in a natural society, our children will do the same.”
The art groups participating in the festival were all very successful. The music groups Şehit Mizgîn, Esmer, Vejîn, Çiyayên Kurmênc and Kulîlkên Çand received great applause for their performances.
In addition, the Şehit Şîlan halay group and the Şehit Mistefa theater group added color to the festival with their theater performances.
