GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Battle in the Valley

TOWN OF HARRISON – Fox Valley Lutheran won the Battle of the Valley 4-0 at The Barn at Lake Park.

Xavier and Oconto Falls took second and third place, respectively.

In group play, the Foxes defeated New Holstein 25-7, 25-7 and Howards Grove 25-21, 25-23. In the gold division, FVL beat Xavier 25-18, 25-22 and Oconto Falls 31-29, 17-25, 15-10.

Riley Schmitz led Fox Valley Lutheran with 48 digs and 12 assists. Hannah Uhlenbrauck had 16 kills, Amara Jahner had 18 digs and Brianna Stewart had 12 kills and 10 blocks. Alaina Patchett had a team-leading 22 kills, while Molly Bixby and Ava Patchett had 39 and 33 assists, respectively.

Stevens Point Invitation

STEVENS POINT – NEW Lutheran finished fifth in the invitational tournament with a score of 2:2.

The Blazers lost to Newman Catholic 25–21, 23–25 and 12–15, beat Northland Pines 25–18 and 25–11, lost to Wittenberg-Birnamwood 25–18, 22–25 and 13–15 and beat Rhinelander 25–17 and 25–8.

Emma Laatsch had 39 kills, 44 digs and seven aces for NEW Lutheran. Abby Kirchner had 83 assists and 15 aces. Kiley Dhein had 37 digs and 19 kills and Lexie Meerstein had 18 kills and six aces.

Crivitz Invitational

CRIVITZ – Wabeno took first place, Florence second and Crivitz third.

Crivitz defeated Goodman 25-11, 25-18 and Marinette 25-16, 25-22. Wabeno defeated Crivitz 25-17, 25-18 and Florence defeated Crivitz 25-15, 25-19.

Addi Rehberg had four aces and 13 assists for Crivitz. Hattie Frievalt had eight aces, nine digs and 33 assists. Marli Meyers had five aces and 14 kills. Peyton Rehberg had five kills, while Kristen Pusick had six kills and Megan Pusick had 11 kills. Kiya Brand added 10 kills and 11 digs, Lucy Gruszynski had 15 digs and Taryn Tracy had three aces, 12 kills and 12 digs.

BOYS FOOTBALL

Kimberly 2, Green Bay Preble 0

GREEN BAY – The Papermakers won their opening game of the season by holding the Hornets to a clean sheet.

Joel Colvin gave Kimberly a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute following a corner and Liam Paradiso scored in the 68th minute after a solo dribble along the byline with a shot to the near post.

Noah Sommer made six saves as goalkeeper for Kimberly.

Green Bay Preble had nine shots while Kimberly had eight.

Pulaski 7, Shawano 0

SHAWANO – The Red Raiders scored two goals by Maddox McKeefry and Tate Gerth in their victory over the Hawks.

Pulaski, which led 4-0 at halftime, also scored goals by Hudson Schultz, Nolan Pratt and Josh Aranda.

Deegan Lambert and Henry Kanzenbach both provided assists for Pulaski, which had 24 shots on goal compared to zero for Shawano.

Jonah Drews and Josh Roth share time in goal for Pulaski.

Ryan Buerman had 17 saves for Shawano.

Hortonville 3, Marshfield 1

HORTONVILLE – Noah Rindt scored two goals and Jacob Plutz added another as the Polar Bears defeated the Tigers in a non-league game.

Dylan Glad contributed two assists for Hortonville.

Polar Bears goalie Grant Decker blocked two shots.

All goals were scored in the second half.
