Which food could be the flavor note for your characteristic scent? For pretzel lovers: Aunt Anne‘s has a big surprise. The American The pretzel brand is launching Knead: Eau De Pretzel on August 14. In a statement, the brand said, “We’ve bottled the scent of Auntie Anne’s.”
It continued: “We present Knead: Eau De Pretzel. A perfume with the warm, buttery and slightly sweet scent of hot, handmade Pretzels. This tantalizing scent should come with the warning that you will smell good enough to be eaten.”
A quick Google search turned up Reddit threads of people asking about pretzel perfume. One 3-year-old post said, “The post about the French fries inspired me! I’m looking for a scent that smells like an Auntie Anne’s or similar mall pretzel shop. Soft baked dough, salty bits, a little sweetness (maybe from the almond pretzels that I like best), hot oil. I saw a post from a few years ago and a few recommendations here and there, but I thought maybe some new scents have popped up! I’m not looking for pretzel as a note mixed with other scent notes. Just pure!”
One Reddit user wrote: “I’m saving this, I’d love to find something like that! It’s not a pretzel, but the closest scent to that “pastry smell that radiates from the top to the other side of the mall” is Roguery by Nui Cobalt. (“Kouign Amann: a light and elegant puff pastry that takes the simplicity of buttered sugar buns to the pinnacle of sophistication.”) It’s a little sweeter than a pretzel loaf, but has that indescribable buttery quality that I find in mall pretzels.”
Well, it looks like it’s been a dream come true for many. Social media users couldn’t keep calm. One follower on Instagram wrote: “Consider this my new laundry spray.” Another commented: “I’ve never kneaded anything so much!!” (sic).
