New Delhi:

The dramatic rescue of a kidnapped man by Jaipur Police has gone viral on social media. The video shows cops waking him up. Anuj, who was held hostage in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, got a pleasant surprise when a team of Jaipur Police barged into the room and said, “Anuj, get up son… This is Jaipur Police.” Five people have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping Anuj.

Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph narrated the case in detail and revealed that Anuj had gone to Nahargarh Fort with a friend on August 18. The men mistook Anuj for a rich person because of his clothes and forcibly abducted him by tying his hands and feet and gagging him. They then threw Anuj’s friend Sony out of the vehicle and assaulted him. When Anuj did not return home, his family reported the incident to the police.

The police reacted promptly and, based on information from Sony, used a drone to search the Nahargarh Fort. Initial investigations suggested that the kidnapping was a possible result of a dispute, and several police teams were involved in the operation. During this time, the kidnappers contacted Anuj’s family and demanded a ransom of Rs 2 million. Since the family could not raise the amount immediately, they asked for more time to raise the funds.

The police got the kidnappers’ phone number and started searching, but the accused kept changing their location to avoid arrest. Finally, they instructed the family to drop the ransom money in the last compartment of the Kalka-Shimla Express train. The police had deployed teams along the train route and intercepted the suspects while they were throwing away the ransom bag near Dharmpur railway station.

After the arrest of one suspect, further interrogation led to the arrest of the remaining accused. According to the police, Virender Singh, a software engineer, was the mastermind of the kidnapping. He had hatched the plan with his accomplices to make a quick buck. The authorities are still looking for another fugitive involved in the case.
