The results of the July 6 Tox-a-Way Day were released Monday at the Montgomery County Waste Management meeting.

According to board administrator Lori Dossett, it was the largest event since the county took over garbage collection four years ago.

“We’ve had a steady flow of 525 vehicles this year, which is by far the highest we’ve ever had,” Dossett said. “We’ve produced a total of 33 tons of waste, which is also a record for us.”

A total of 79 pieces of equipment weighing 10,205 pounds were disposed of. A total of 409 tires weighing 25,370 pounds were disposed of.

252 electronic parts weighing 4.85 tons were thrown away.

In addition, a total of 19,864 pounds of household hazardous waste was collected.

The event was moved to Crawfordsville High School and MCSW members decided to ask the high school to host the event next year. Members believe the more central location was a major factor in the success of this year’s event.
