The title of the LP, No title As of February 13, 2024 28,340 deadrefers to Israeli air strikes on Gaza
Good luck! Black Emperor will release a new album, No title As of February 13, 2024 28,340 deadon October 4 via Constellation Records. The title of the LP refers to the number of Palestinians in Gaza killed by Israeli attacks between October 7, 2023 and February 13, 2024.
The rock band gave a taste of the LP with the seven-minute instrumental single “Grey Rubble – Green Shoots”, the last track on the album.
The album’s description states: “The pure truth – we let ourselves drift through the album, arguing. Every day a new war crime, every day a flower blooming. We sat down together and wrote it in a room,
and then sat in another room and recorded. No title – what gestures make sense as tiny bodies fall? What context? What broken melody? And then a tally and a date to mark a point on the line, the negative process, the growing pile. The sun was setting over beds of ash as we sat and argued. The old world order barely pretended to care. This new century will be even crueler. War is coming. Don’t give up. Choose a side. Hold on.”
The album is available to pre-order now via Godspeed You! Black Emperor’s Bandcamp page. The band recently announced their Liberation Autumn of ’24 tour, which kicks off in Dublin on September 27. The group will perform in the UK and Europe before heading to North America in November.
Good luck! The last album from Black Emperor, God’s pee-man at the end of the state!was released in 2021. The LP was the first album by the Montreal post-rock collective since 2017 Luciferian Towers.
