7-Eleven celebrates coffee anniversary with Green Day blend

The international convenience store chain 7-Eleven is celebrating its 60th anniversary in the coffee to go sector and is entering into a partnership with the punk band Green Day.

Starting August 28, 7-Eleven will serve the exclusive anniversary blend of Green Day’s coffee brand Punk Bunny Coffee in its stores across the US. The collaboration not only celebrates 7-Eleven’s milestone, but also the band’s 30th anniversary of their breakthrough album Dookie.

“This year, we celebrate 7-Eleven’s 60th anniversary as the first nationwide retailer to offer freshly brewed coffee in to-go cups, making us the premier destination for to-go coffee,” said Dennis Phelps, Senior Vice President, Merchandising (Vault & Proprietary Beverages) at 7-Eleven.

“What better way to celebrate than to partner with Punk Bunny to offer our customers new and exclusive coffee options and provide them with a unique coffee experience?”

To celebrate the launch, 7-Eleven and Punk Bunny Coffee are offering customers the chance to win free 7-Eleven coffee for 711 days. The first 50 people to show up at the New York City 7-Eleven store at 800 6th Avenue on August 28 and get a custom semi-permanent Punk Bunny tattoo will win one of 50 prizes.

“When we first formed as a band in high school, the 7-Eleven in our hometown was our local hangout,” says Billie Joe Armstrong, frontman of Green Day.

“As we celebrate the anniversaries of two of our biggest albums, we’re coming full circle with the launch of our coffee company, Punk Bunny, in 7-Eleven stores.”

The anniversary blend is characterized by citrus notes and strong undertones of stone fruit, with a warm cocoa and slightly spicy finish.

“As a Green Day fan myself, I’m especially excited to share this collaboration with our customers,” said Marissa Jarratt, Executive Vice President & Chief Marketing and Sustainability Officer at 7-Eleven.

“The addition of Punk Bunny to the 7-Eleven coffee lineup underscores our commitment to bringing new, exclusive items to stores. Together with Punk Bunny, we hope to delight coffee and music fans everywhere and celebrate 60 years of our coffee to go.”
