Saga Origins unveils a series of indie blockchain games

Saga Origins, the publishing arm of the Saga blockchain protocol, has announced an initial slate of indie titles that will use its Web3 platform.

The company made the announcement during its second annual Multiverse Summit event during Gamescom 2024 in Cologne.

The list of indie games revealed during the presentation included the massively multiplayer online (MMO) battle royale space adventure Lussa: The Final Frontier, the new mythical sci-fi adventure RPG God’s Legacy, and updates to the immersive narrative strategy RPG Angelic: The Chaos Theater.

“Saga Origins is a place where crazy people can realize their craziest dreams,” said Rebecca Liao, CEO of Saga, in a statement. “We love provocative games with strong and divergent storylines, and we’re committed to helping talented developers who are pushing the boundaries of what games can be. The flagship games we shared with the world today – Lussa: The Final Frontier, God’s Legacy, and Angelic – are all united by the uncompromising visions of their creators, and we’re proud to support them as they create fresh and original worlds.”

Liao said the company is looking for “no-compromise” games that take advantage of the Web3 protocol.

Founded earlier this year, Saga Origins’ collaborative approach to game development is designed to empower its studio partners to realize their creative visions without being hampered by the executive mandates and decisions that often hamper innovation in the video game industry.

The company is the first and only dedicated game publishing division of a Web3 chain and is committed to bringing cutting-edge, high-quality games to gamers around the world, whether they’re traditional online games or Web3 experiences. In a world full of sequels and rehashed IPs, Saga Origins’ only instruction to its independent developer partners is to make bold artistic choices.

Saga Origins announced Lussa: The Final Frontier, an MMO space adventure offering an unprecedented battle royale experience in development for PC, console, and mobile. With Earth in danger and the hunt for a new home for humanity on, players must band together to explore and conquer new planets while battling other groups of wandering humans trying to survive in the harsh new environments that await them on new planets.

Saga Origins gave audiences at the Multiverse Summit their first sneak peek at God’s Legacy, an immersive third-person RPG adventure set in a massive open world filled with ancient mysteries and futuristic wonders.

Crafted with the unprecedented power of Unreal Engine 5.4, every environment in the game boasts hyper-realistic detail, from meticulously scanned foliage to the vast expanses of otherworldly realms. God’s Legacy features a story steeped in Slavic, Sumerian and Olmec mythologies, interwoven with dynamic combat, complex world-building and a series of engaging mini-games.

Metaverse Game Studios gave the world a deeper look at Angelic: The Chaos Theater, the new narrative turn-based strategy RPG set in a dark, collaborative sci-fi universe.

The game combines compelling storytelling with strategic turn-based combat set against the backdrop of interstellar conflict. Players can participate in both single-player campaigns and multiplayer modes, making decisions that affect the game’s universe. The game also integrates blockchain technology to enable player ownership and community-driven governance. Angelic: The Chaos Theatre is currently in open alpha and can be downloaded on PC via Steam.

The Saga Origins titles highlight how the groundbreaking Saga protocol brings games to market seamlessly, with technology that is deeply aligned with developers’ needs, the company said. As a leading Layer-1 protocol, Saga offers an integrated stack of automated, high-performance, gasless, interoperable and customizable chains called Chainlets that simplify game development and accelerate the creative process.
