The library’s six-month Around the World series ends with a party

The Monroe Free Library (MFL)’s six-month series exploring each of the continents through programs, reading collections, and community and take-home projects concludes this August. This series has highlighted the seven continents around the globe each month and will conclude with a closing party on Saturday, September 7, from 1-3 p.m.

The series focused on the unique cultures of each continent to promote diversity within the community. Visitors enjoyed a range of programming and collections themed around the arts, music, languages, cultures and foods of each continent, as well as books, databases and free online resources that promote cultural awareness and appreciation.

During the party, guests can play games from around the world, enjoy an international menu featuring dishes from local restaurants, contribute to a community rock garden, take fun photos in front of a life-sized hot air balloon, and find out who the winner of the “Around the World” grand prize drawing is! Special guests from Homespun Occasions will also provide musical entertainment by playing live music from around the world, while guests are encouraged to try out cultural dances.
