Kirk Cameron says Guinness World Records ignored the library’s patriotic story hour that drew tens of thousands

Kirk Cameron says Guinness World Records ignored the library’s patriotic story hour that drew tens of thousands

Actor, author and Christian activist Kirk Cameron announced that the second annual “See You at the Library” event on Saturday had such a large turnout that it could have set a world record.

“In June, a world record was set for the longest drag queen story hour and entered into the Guinness Book of World Records with 260 people. We had 30,000 people at 350 story hours and they were waving American flags and that just makes me feel so good,” Cameron told Pete Hegseth, co-host of “Fox & Friends Weekend.”

“Guinness didn’t show up, but we had the world’s greatest story time yesterday, See You at the Library,” Cameron continued.

The national event, launched last year by Cameron and conservative book publisher BRAVE Books, brings families together to pray, sing the national anthem and celebrate touching stories of patriotism and faith.

Cameron said the 2024 gathering will be even bigger than last year’s event. BRAVE Books and Cameron hoped to set a world record for the largest storytime in a children’s library, so in July they submitted applications and sent requests to Guinness World Records to record the event.

Cameron explained what happened next in a post to X.

“The team at @BraveBooksus and I have been trying for over a month to invite a judge from the Guinness World Records team to attend See You at the library this Saturday, August 24th, but after three attempts to submit our application, we never received a response, despite them promising to respond ‘shortly,'” Cameron wrote, sharing screenshots of her application and emails from Guinness.

“In fact, after each attempt, our applications mysteriously disappeared from our account. I’ve attached some screenshots of these occurrences to this post. It’s a shame we can’t set a Guinness record for family story participation, considering they donated their services to drag queen story times during Pride Month. Nonetheless, we will join forces and set our own record, a record that will be shared in the media and show that American families are ready for a revival of our libraries and our country,” he continued.

Fox News Digital reached out to Guinness World Records for comment but did not receive a response.

Cameron told Hegseth that he started See You at the Library with Brave Books after libraries “banned” Brave Book reading hours because the events did not align with their “values.”

Despite the opposition, Cameron said thousands of families came to her book readings, inspiring the creation of this national event organized by moms and dads across the country.

“I went to three of them yesterday and we were overwhelmed by the people who just love God, love their family and love this country,” Cameron said.

“I am so grateful that the values they celebrate are the values that have made this country such a great country; like faith and morals, education, law and freedom,” he added.
