Brussels Airlines wants you to design the next livery

DALLAS It’s rare that airlines leave this tremendous feat to the public, but it always works out great. Belgian airline Brussels Airlines (SN) will give its customers and fans the opportunity to design and vote on its next special “Belgian Icon” livery through a public competition.

The airline launched the competition today, August 27. Participants have up to a month to submit their proposals to the airline that wants to represent the best of Belgium. A general vote will then be held in early October to decide which of the winning designs will be used on an Airbus A320 family aircraft.

SN’s marketing director, Michel Moriaux, said: “The design must be something that Belgium is known for and that Belgians are proud of, without falling too far into clichés. As with all our previous Belgian icons, the design must have a ‘wow factor’ and inspire people to visit Belgium.”

If you live in Europe, you will hardly miss one of the special liveries of the Belgian Icon series on all Brussels Airlines medium-haul destinations. This creative project began in 2015 with the launch of the first design “Rackham”, which pays tribute to the world-famous Belgian comic strip Tintin.

Over the years, SN has applied colorful designs to several other Airbus A320 family jets in the fleet, including “Magritte” and “Aerosmurf.”

As of today, two special paint jobs have been refreshed with the new logo and the new brand: “Amare” and the “Red Devils”.
