“Devil In Disguise” casts 5 regular cast members for the series

Peacock’s upcoming limited series John Wayne Gacy: The devil in a robe added Gabriel Luna (The Last of Us, Terminator: Dark Fate), James Badge Dale (Scholar, 1923), Michael Angarano (Oppenheimer, this is us), Chris Sullivan (this is us, compassion) and Marin Ireland (The Irishman, The Umbrella Academy) have been added to the series’ regular cast. They join the previously announced Michael Chernus, who portrays the titular real-life serial killer.

The scripted drama series tells the gruesome crimes of one of America’s most notorious serial killers and the investigation that ultimately brought him down. It is inspired by the 2021 Peacock docuseries of the same name, produced by NBC News Studios.

Between 1972 and 1978, 33 young men were kidnapped, murdered, and buried in a crawl space beneath the home of their killer, Gacy. Gacy remained undetected for years because he was charming, funny, had a good, all-American job, was a community leader, and even volunteered to entertain sick children… while dressed as a clown.

Luna plays Detective Rafael Tovar, Dale plays Chief of Criminal Investigation Joe Kozenczak, Angarano plays Sam Amirante, Sullivan plays Lead District Attorney Bill Kunkle and Ireland plays Elizabeth Piest.

Peacock unveiled John Wayne Gacy: The devil in disguise peels back the tangled layers of Gacy’s life, weaving together the heartbreaking stories of his predominantly gay victims; exploring the grief, guilt, and trauma of their families and friends; and exposing the systemic failures, missed opportunities, and societal prejudices that fueled his reign of terror. peels back the tangled layers of Gacy’s life, weaving together the heartbreaking stories of his predominantly gay victims; exploring the grief, guilt, and trauma of their families and friends; and exposing the systemic failures, missed opportunities, and societal prejudices that fueled his reign of terror.

Patrick Macmanus of Littleton Road Production serves as showrunner, writer and executive producer alongside Noah Oppenheim and Liz Cole for NBC News Studios and Ashley Michel Hoban, Ahmadu Garba and Kelly Funke for Littleton Road Productions. The studio is UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.
