NORFOLK, Virginia – The 2024 BIG EAST field hockey preseason poll and awards have officially been released, and your Monarchs were voted second in the conference with 43 total points and 2 first-place votes, notably more votes than last year.
Coaches from all conference teams participated in this survey and awarded three Monarchs a spot on the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. They are:
Suus Broers, So., GK, Old Dominion
Kerry McCormick, So., B, Old Dominion
Frederique Zandbergen, Sr., M, Old Dominion
In addition, Suus Broers was appointed BIG EAST Goalie of the Year in the preseason.
Last season, Suus stood out by making all 20 starts for the Monarchs as a freshman. Her form earned her Big East Co-Freshman of the Year, second team all-BIG EAST Conference honors and Freshman of the Week three times last season.
The sophomore from Utrecht, Netherlands, will look to continue that form this season for your Old Dominion Monarchs field hockey team.
