Boiler Room’s Disclosure event in London cancelled due to overcrowding

Disclosure’s surprise appearance at the Boiler Room in London was cancelled over the weekend due to large crowds.

The British duo were just “five minutes” into their performance at Boiler Room’s latest World Tour event on Sunday when promoters had to intervene due to overcrowding concerns. Their performance was cancelled shortly after, Disclosure confirmed, with Boiler Room citing “high demand” as the reason for the incident. No one was reportedly injured.

“It’s out of our hands but the festival has deemed it unsafe for us to play due to the volume of demand,” Disclosure shared in an Instagram story after leaving the stage. “We’ve worked hard on the set for months, flew from Los Angeles to do it and are honestly deeply saddened that we can’t play. We won’t be back but we hope to see you in London soon.”

Boiler Room provided further information on the incident, writing: “Our secret guests, Disclosure, attracted a huge crowd in London today. Unfortunately, we had to cancel their performance due to high demand – not their fault.”

The brand apologised to attendees and announced that they plan to bring the duo back to London “very soon”. The day after the incident, the planned programme went ahead with performances by Sara Landry, I Hate Models, 999999999, Yung Singh, Mafalda, Skream & Benga, Flowdan and more. The event at the Lee Valley Showground in Waltham Cross was the final stop on the ongoing Boiler Room World Tour.

Instead of being able to finish their show, Disclosure were seen playing a pop-up DJ set at north London record store KINDRED on Sunday night. “Huge shout out to everyone who came,” the duo shared in an Instagram story, adding that they were able to record their planned mix at the venue. “The room was so sweaty at the end but we managed to turn the whole weekend on its head with your energy. Love you all.”

Disclosure has also confirmed that the mix recorded at KINDRED will be released online soon.

The cancellation came a month after a Boiler Room show with Peggy Gou in Seoul had to be evacuated due to overcrowding, as several visitors had difficulty breathing. In a report by Housing advisorThe brand denied claims that the event was overbooked, saying it was due to a “visitor flow issue.”
