Tawanda and Gerald Harris take their Infinite Delights and go on tour.

The couple, who opened Infinite Delights Baking, Catering and Events in South Augusta in January 2023, made a “heartbroken” announcement on July 18. July 26 would be the last day open for the restaurant at 2906 Peach Orchard Road.

But don’t let that obscure the good news: Infinite Delights has moved into a food truck and has already begun setting up parking lots and food stands in the Augusta area offering meals for pickup or delivery.

The truck has been seen at the city’s regular Candleight Jazz performances on Augusta Common and is expected at the next performance on September 1st from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Infinite Delights has also been invited to Food Truck Friday on September 13 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Windsor Plaza Shopping Center, 4104 Windsor Spring Rd., near the intersection of Tobacco Road.

The Harrises left 2906 Peach Orchard in better shape than they found it. It has housed at least nine other restaurants over the past 60 years, and when they took over the building in 2022, it was virtually stripped of all usable furnishings.

Mr. Harris, who owns his own general construction company, used the blank canvas to realize Ms. Harris’ vision of a modern, stylish brunch spot that can still be used as an event venue.

Infinite Delights’ food truck serves a reduced menu, which is posted on social media and may change from week to week.

The dishes that made Infinite Delights so popular are still there. While the beef hamburgers are delicious, the perfectly seasoned turkey burgers leave customers with the difficult decision of whether to add seasoning or just enjoy the burger as is.

Meat and vegetables: Popular local steakhouse opens a meat market and more next door

The chicken wings are served with either freshly prepared sauce or Infinite Delights’ signature dry marinade. Either way, the wings remain crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.

Shrimp and grits may not sound like a typical takeout dish from a food truck, but don’t let that put you off. Infinite Delights’ take on the popular Low Country brunch dish uses a homemade roux, the richness of which makes the dish a firm favorite.
