Amazigh rock band takes Britain by storm

As part of their Agdal tour, Meteor Airlines will play several concerts in the UK. The Amazigh rock band from Tinghir will perform in Edinburgh, Birmingham, London, Liverpool and Manchester, reaching new audiences who will discover their unique style that combines traditional music with contemporary sounds. Further dates are planned in Ireland, France and Morocco.

On this occasion, the group will present their latest album Agdal, which is “a tribute to the ancient Amazigh systems of sustainable land and water management”, two natural elements that play an increasingly important role in current environmental and climate issues. In this sense, “the tour not only showcases this innovative music, but also serves as a cultural bridge connecting British audiences with the values of Moroccan Amazigh communities,” explains the band.

Indeed, the album Agdal addresses themes related to climate, resilience and the urgent need to protect cultural and natural heritage. Through their music, the band breathes new life into stories rooted in a shared memory and a shared future, linked to natural spaces of deep civilizational importance such as the oases and mountains of the Atlas. Beyond the music, this work is described by its creators as “a call to action to preserve ecosystems and cultural heritage that are essential to our future”.

Rachid Ennassiri, manager and member of Meteor Airlines, says this UK tour is “a dream come true” for the band. “We are excited to share our music and the important messages behind it with a new audience,” he said.

Since 2016, Meteor Airlines has captivated an increasingly loyal audience with their distinctive blend of Amazigh rock, which has made them pioneers who draw inspiration from Moroccan heritage, “culture, history, values and global issues.” In July, the group was awarded the Best Artistic Practice in the Mediterranean at the CREACT4MED Best Practices Award ceremony in Barcelona, Spain.
