John T. Nunes, Jr., known to friends and family as JT, passed away on August 3, 2024 at the age of 87.
He leaves behind his loving partner Jenny Deluna of Kansas City, Missouri; his son John and his wife Laura of Apple Valley, California; his daughter Lisa and her husband Joe Bryan of Apple Valley; and his daughter Jennifer Rodrigues of England.
For JT, family was the most important thing in his life and he was very proud of his grandchildren John T. Nunes IV, Sam Nunes, Christopher and Trevor Bryan, and Lily and India Oakley, as well as his ten great-grandchildren.
Born and raised in Summerland and Carpinteria, JT worked for Southern California Edison for over 32 years before founding Nunes and Associates, an electrical service planning firm.
JT is an avid sportsman and received a shooting certification from UCSB. He later gave up hunting to compete as a championship-level trap shooter.
He felt drawn to the sea. As a teenager he went on trips to the islands with his father or his brothers in a small homemade boat and for many years commercial fishing was his hobby.
JT was a kind, generous and self-sacrificing man who will be missed by many whose lives he touched. Although we mourn his passing now, we know his memory and spirit remain with us.
