Flipkart surprises Bengaluru man with gift after his 13-minute post about laptop delivery went viral

A post by a Bengaluru man about the remarkably fast delivery of his laptop went viral and led to an unexpected gift from e-commerce platform Flipkart. Sunny R Gupta, a software engineer, shared that he received his laptop within 13 minutes after ordering it through Flipkart Minutes. The speedy delivery created a stir online, so Flipkart sent him a laptop bag as a token of appreciation for the attention his tweet had received.

Sunny explained in a follow-up post on X that his experience was authentic and not part of a “marketing stunt or planned promotion.”

“As some of you know, I run a small meetup group here in Bengaluru called ‘Impromptu BLR Meetups’. During one of our meetups at Starbucks, I was browsing Amazon and Flipkart for a new Windows laptop. I came across a model on Flipkart that fit my budget and requirements and noticed a new feature that allowed delivery within 15 minutes. This option intrigued me and I decided to try it out, thinking it would be more convenient than waiting a day for a traditional delivery,” Sunny wrote on X.

He further explained that his decision to post on X about the laptop was based on his genuine surprise at how quickly it was delivered.

“To my surprise, the laptop arrived in just 13 minutes and I posted about it in real time. The posts went viral overnight, garnering millions of views and grabbing the attention of various media outlets. I would like to stress that I had no incentive to create a viral moment or engage in a marketing ploy. The posts were purely my personal experiences, shared out of genuine surprise and excitement,” Sunny added.

While admitting that he enjoyed the attention the posts received, Sunny also mentioned that Flipkart’s marketing team reached out to him afterward and offered him a laptop bag. “When the post became popular, Flipkart’s marketing team offered me a laptop bag for all the excitement it eventually generated. Thank you for your understanding and support,” he concluded.

Flipkart recently ventured into the space of quick commerce with its new service Flipkart Minutes. Unlike other platforms like Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, Zepto, etc., Flipkart Minutes offers not only daily essentials but also high-end gadgets like laptops, which makes this service unique. Launched in select areas of Bengaluru this month, Flipkart Minutes also boasts of competitive pricing. It offers products at around 10% cheaper than the rival services.
