(The following is a transcript of the entire broadcast)

“I’m really excited to see him, it’s a very exciting, very cool and very fun experience,” said Dakota Montez, a 12th grader at Green Bay West High School.

It’s not every day that a superstar quarterback visits a local high school, but for Montez and his teammates, today was that day.

“Everyone was screaming and excited,” Montez said. “We were so excited.”

Love arrived shortly before the football team began practice – he gave the players advice and announced a new initiative from his foundation, “Hands of Love”.

“I think all kids should be able to play sports, and I’m a huge fan of sports and soccer,” Love said. “No matter what situation people are in or what they’re going through, you never know who on your team needs a little extra help.”

It’s called “10ve for Cleats,” pronounced “Love for Cleats,” and the rules are simple:

For every touchdown Love scores (by passing or running), a youth sports team in Wisconsin receives new soccer cleats.

“I think it’s a big deal for these kids to be there in person because it hits them a little bit harder,” said head football coach Drew Brusoe.

Although the visit was brief, coach Brusoe said it was valuable.

“He wanted me to convey the message to the team that we have to take it one play at a time and understand that we can’t think too much. We have to motivate ourselves, that’s the internal motivation factor,” said Brusoe.

Love also emphasized the importance of mental health.

“You never really know what some teammates are going through, if they have other issues in life that they kind of have to put on the back burner when they come to practice and school every day. So mental health is a big part of my foundation and what we’re trying to do going forward.”

When asked if the initiative will help his play on the field, Love said he now aims to score more touchdowns than he did last year.
