Eat like a local: Café Choryang 1941 in Busan offers Japanese flair

Built in a converted Japanese-style cottage from 1941, Café Choryang 1941 has become a popular stop for Instagram photographers and anyone looking for a unique experience in Busan.

This unique mountain cafe in Dong-gu offers only one type of coffee, but places an emphasis on milk—the specialty bottles of ginger milk, camellia milk, vanilla milk, and coffee vanilla milk are just a few of the options you can choose from for around 6,800 to 7,000 won.

They also offer various parfaits and about four desserts to choose from, ranging from about 5,500 to 6,500 won.

Since the café has just under 20 seats, it usually fills up quickly in the mornings.

Its rustic decor and nostalgic atmosphere, including vintage cutlery and tatami mats, make this cafe a must-visit for those looking for something off the beaten track.

The cafe is open during normal hours but closes when the product is sold out for the day. It’s a bit of a walk but worth it if you find it.

Parking is available, but if you take the bus you will have to climb a steep hill for about five minutes.
