Why Taylor Swift’s fans have mixed feelings about her friendship with Blake Lively

Blake Lively’s ongoing It ends with us The drama didn’t stop her best friend Taylor Swift from throwing her an epic birthday party – much to the disappointment of some fans.

On Saturday, August 24, the singer hosted a birthday party for the 37-year-old gossip Girl alumna at her $17 million home in Watch Hill, Rhode Island. Swift’s summer home was packed with A-list celebrities celebrating Lively’s birthday, including the actress’ husband, Ryan Reynolds, as well as Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce. Also in attendance were Travis’ brother, Jason Kelce, and his wife, Kylie Kelce, Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes, and Bradley Cooper.

The celebration turned out to be a kid-friendly event, as many guests brought their little ones, including Lively, who has four children with Reynolds: James, 9, Inez, 7, Betty, 4, and Olin, 1. Cooper’s 7-year-old daughter Lea de Seine, whom he has with model Irina Shayk, was also photographed at the event.

Despite the celebratory occasion, fans had mixed reactions to Swift hosting Lively’s birthday party, as unflattering interviews with Lively keep surfacing while her heavily criticized promo series of It ends with us.

One user wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) with skull emojis: “Not the PR meeting at Taylor’s house in Rhode Island️.” The user added: “I think I said two weeks ago that Blake would be sitting in a (VIP) box with Taylor to sort out this whole It Ends With Us PR mess… Looks like they can’t wait for the (NFL) season to start.”

Additionally, fans went wild in the comments section of TMZ’s coverage of the party, with one person writing, “So now (Blake) is using TS to save her image instead of her husband who is also about to be canceled. Ok.”

Another person commented: “As a Taylor fan, I am disappointed.”

However, other fans acknowledged the couple’s long-standing friendship and admired Swift for her support of Lively.

“Taylor is the godmother to her kids. Do you think she’s just going to drop them all? They’re family now,” one person wrote.

Another person commented: “Good for her! Leave her alone!!”

Last month, Lively faced heavy criticism for promoting her new hair care line, Blake Brown, as part of a promotional campaign for a film about domestic violence.

She has also faced criticism for comments made in two resurfaced interviews. In a 2016 interview, reporter Kjersti Flaa congratulated the actress on her baby bump, to which Lively responded, “Congratulations on your little bump,” even though Flaa wasn’t pregnant. In another 2014 interview, Lively claimed that women “lie” about pregnancy cravings, which angered many fans.
