The award-winning So so The anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment as well as Women’s Equality Day were marked with several celebrations from August 18 to 26, and Playbill has the pictures to prove it.

“It is incredible that we can celebrate this anniversary of ratification with our audience at the Music Box Theatre,” So so Producers Jill Furman and Rachel Sussman said in an earlier statement, “And it’s even more powerful to do this the same week that the first woman of color officially becomes the Democratic nominee for president of the United States. The suffragists, some of whom are portrayed on our show, paved the way for Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton, Sonia Sotomayor and all the powerful women in government who hold office today. It’s an honor to share their stories and encourage viewers inspired by their accomplishments to get out and vote this fall.”

The week of festivities began with the August 18 matinee, marking the 104th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment. Audiences at this performance were encouraged to wear white in celebration of the suffragists; the moment of ratification is dramatized in a pivotal moment in the new musical, with the song “A Letter From Harry’s Mother” underscoring the emotional core of the moment.

On August 20, the audience of the evening performance took part in a collective singing of the song “The March”, led by So so Company. The celebration was part of the Broadway League Children’s Night on Broadway Initiative.

For the evening performance on August 21, the women-founded brewery Talea Beer Co. held a raffle before the show. For the August 22 show, Starbright Floral Design held a raffle after the show, and 19 audience members were selected before the show to receive yellow roses at their seats. For the August 23 show, Haswell Green’s held a raffle for drink tickets before the show.

The evening performance on August 24 was presented in partnership with the League of Women Voters and included a roll call of representatives from all 36 states that have ratified the 19th Amendment. The evening also included a talkback moderated by the League of Women Voters with CEO Celina Stewart, historian Kimberly Hamlin and journalist Erin Geiger Smith.

Other celebrations during the week included a reading on women’s suffrage at The Drama Book Shop, where selected customers received surprise bookmarks designed by the So so Cast; specialty cocktails at PS Kitchen and Haswell Green’s, accompanied by ticket raffles for selected guests who have won the respective So so drinks; and 19% discount at Gone to the Dogs for all customers who So so Ticket section or enter code SUFFS19 online, as well as ticket raffles for selected customers who purchased goods in store So so Advertisement.

Taub plays the role of Alice Paul in her own musical alongside Tony winner Nikki M. James (The Book of Mormon) as Ida B. Wells, Tony-nominated Colella (Come from far away) as Carrie Chapman Catt, Grace McLean (Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812) as President Woodrow Wilson, Hannah Cruz as Inez Milholland, Kim Blanck as Ruza Wenclawska, Anastacia McCleskey (Waitress) as Mary Church Terrell, Ally Bonino as Lucy Burns, Tsilala Brock as Dudley Malone, Nadia Dandashi as Doris Stevens and Tony nominee Emily Skinner (Sideshow) as Alva Belmont/Phoebe Burn.

At the helm is director Leigh Silverman, who leads a creative team that includes music director and musical director Andrea Grody, choreographer Mayte Natalio, set designer Riccardo Hernández, costume designer Paul Tazewell, lighting designer Lap Chi Chu, sound designer Jason Crystal and orchestrator Michael Starobin. 101 Productions is the general manager.
