Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein to speak in Florida next week • Florida Phoenix

Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein is on the ballot in Florida in November and will travel to the state next week for several appearances.

Stein will be in Tampa on Sept. 3 to attend the opening day of the federal trial of Omali Yeshitela and two other members of the International Democratic People’s Uhuru Movement, which has a base in St. Petersburg. They are accused of working with three Russian intelligence agents to sow discord, spread pro-Russian propaganda and interfere in U.S. elections.

A spokesman for Stein described the allegations as “unfounded and unfair.”

On September 4, Stein will appear in Jacksonville in a public conversation with international studies professor Jorge Majfud at 5:30 p.m. at Terry Concert Hall on the campus of Jacksonville University.

Stein is running on the Green Party ticket along with Rudolph “Butch” Ware, an associate professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Stein ran as the Green Party’s presidential candidate in Florida in both 2012 and 2016. In 2012, she received only 8,947 votes and 0.1% of the total vote.

However, in 2016, she received 64,399 votes, or 0.7% of the vote in Florida.

According to an ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll conducted in August, Stein received about 1 percent of the vote nationwide.
