Billionaire and owner of the Kansas City Chiefs Clark Hunt‘s daughter Ava Moving into her first room in the student dormitory was an important milestone in her life – but not without first having given the room a renovation worthy of an inheritance.

The 18-year-old is starting her freshman year at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and spent the weekend moving into her new “home.” She got a little help from her mother, Taviawho celebrated the occasion with a series of pictures on her Instagram account, sharing a sneak peek inside her daughter’s incredibly luxurious dorm. The space is decked out in pretty pink decor down to the last detail.

In the photos, Ava and her mother are seen posing in front of the freshmen’s bunk bed, which is positioned against one wall in classic dorm style, while her roommate’s bed is on the other side of the room.

After clearly planning their decor before move-in day, Ava and her new roommate (also named Ava) decided on matching pink and white accents in their shared space.

A pink palace

Behind the beds of both roommates hang pink neon signs with the names “Ava Elizabeth” and “Ava Jacquelyn”.

The duo’s beds are covered in identical pink and white floral-patterned sheets, and small round ottomans in matching fabrics sit at the ends of the mattresses.

To hide any clutter that might accumulate under the loft beds, each girl has installed a white curtain covering the room, while the dark brown footboards of the beds are covered with white quilted covers.

Between the two beds there is a large white wardrobe with gold handles, which the two girls have decorated to match the color scheme of the room with matching flower lamps, a stack of books, a scented diffuser and a small vase full of pink peonies.

At the foot of Ava’s bed is a large vanity with a mirror and glass top, which has plenty of drawers for her skincare products, makeup and other essentials, as well as a pink and gold desk chair from Pottery Barn for $399.

On the dresser, the freshman has not one but two lighted mirrors for maximum glamour: one that appears to be built into the vanity, as well as a pink Riki magnifying mirror for $225.

Completing the decor on her vanity is a $199 iridescent globe lamp from Pottery Barn, along with a small vase of white roses, a gold desk organizer and a jar of Olly vitamins.

Maximize your space

To maximize storage space, the teenager also added a white three-drawer dresser with gold handles to match the other furniture in her room and used the top as a shelf for her various drinks.

In addition to an $18.99 Brita pitcher—one of the few items in the room without a pink hue—the college cheerleader also has a bright pink coffee maker and the highly coveted $60 Stanley x LoveShackFancy mug.

Finally, Ava went all out with artwork and decorative knick-knacks to give the space a more homey feel. This includes several pieces of art above her vanity, an acrylic frame full of Polaroids of her family and friends, and a large reusable calendar on a shelf above her dresser.

Special details

In the entryway to the room hangs a large pink canvas with a drawing of a lady showing off her cowboy boots. The word “Howdy” is written several times on it – a nod to Ava’s southern roots and college in Texas.

Lastly, the teenager added a few acrylic jars to store her pens and other essentials, as well as a pretty floral rug and some white curtains in front of the window that occupies the space between her bed and her roommate’s.

Although she helped her daughter transform the space into a stunning second home, Tavia admitted that leaving Ava behind at college was a bittersweet experience.

“Today I left a piece of my heart at SMU,” she wrote in the caption of the photos. “Ava Hunt, you have always been a mix of sunshine and hurricane – fierce, fearless and capable of incredible things. I am so happy for you, even though I am saving my tears for later.”

The mother of three went on to talk about how empty her home feels without Ava, writing, “I am torn with emotions as I walk past your now too clean room. The house is too quiet without your laughter and Chief and I already miss the familiar scent of your Sol de Janeiro body spray.

“I know you will return often and that this will mean a new adventure and freedom for both of us…but I pray fervently for your safety, your wisdom, and for a tribe of new sisters who love Jesus and you. May God bless you and watch over you – He has never let me down and He will not let you down. I look forward to the lessons you will learn about God’s faithfulness in the coming months.”

“When I see you shining your light and growing into the most beautiful version of yourself, my heart beats a little bit happier. You worked so hard to get here. Everything you do from now on, you do for yourself – for your success, your happiness, and God’s glory. Take care of yourself. Sleep well. Trust in yourself. And don’t forget, Mom and Dad are ALWAYS here if you need us. I love you MORE.”

Overcoming adversity

While Ava initially seemed content to enjoy every moment of summer after graduating from Covenant School in Dallas in June, her beautiful weather fun was horribly curtailed in the first week of August when she had to undergo emergency surgery after falling down a mountain while hiking.

In a post shared on her Instagram stories, Tavia revealed some details about the procedure, writing: “This little thing fell down the mountain while hiking today and had to go to the emergency room for a deep wound.

“It’s been a long day. Thank God she is on the mend and already smiling. Please pray for a quick and full recovery.”

Fortunately, Ava seems to have recovered from her injury in time for the start of the school year – and is already busy cheering along with her fellow SMU cheerleaders.
