An unusual mixed breed dog recently struck a chord with Reddit users in the best possible way.
Pictures of this unique and adorable dog were posted on Reddit’s r/rarepuppers last Monday, where he quickly garnered over 1,200 upvotes. Users of the social media platform couldn’t get over the rescued Chihuahua-Labrador mix that user u/MichaelJMakowski adopted.
The crossbreed – sometimes known as a Labrahuahua or Chihuahuador – caught the eye of Reddit users due to its unusual appearance. The small black dog has the stature of a Chihuahua, but its floppy ears and folded ears scream Labrador.

The owner told Newsweek via Reddit Messenger that the dog was adopted from Rags 2 Riches Animal Rescue in Pennsylvania. However, a comment in the comments section revealed that the dog was originally rescued from Texas.
“From my research, it seems they got this breed through artificial insemination,” said the owner. “I would guess the mother is the Labrador.”
An article from Wag Walking confirmed the owner’s research and found that this mixed breed is a cross between a female Labrador Retriever and a male Chihuahua. Due to the very different sizes of the two dog breeds, breeders must use artificial insemination.
This rare dog breed can vary in size, but is generally considered a small to medium-sized dog. They can grow up to 8 inches tall and weigh around 65 pounds, but are often closer in size and stature to a Chihuahua, the Wag Walking article added. They have a life expectancy of around 15 years.

Newsweek previously reported on a unique colorpoint dachshund mix. The dog’s coat color was noticed because it “resembles that of a Siamese cat.” Meanwhile, a litter of puppies also made headlines when an animal shelter asked for help naming the unique mix – Goldendoodle and Pitbull mix.

Reddit users quickly fell in love with the dog, calling him “super rare” but also “super cute.”

“What a beautiful chibrador you have,” commented one user, while another added, “I need to see how big he gets. He’s so cute.”
However, others in the comments section were convinced that the dog looked more like a Chihuahua/pit bull mix. The owner wrote that the animal rescue had specified a Chihuahua mix and he had not done a DNA test to confirm the dog’s breed.
