Royal Brunei Airlines starts flights to Chennai

DALLAS — Royal Brunei Airlines (BI) will resume commercial flights to India after a 20-year hiatus. As part of the network expansion, Brunei’s national carrier will commence flights from Brunei International Airport (BWN) to Chennai International Airport (MAA) on November 5, 2024.

An Airbus A320 will connect the two cities three times a week. Flights will depart BWN as BI121 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 20:00 and return from MAA as BI122 on Thursdays at 23:50. However, BI121 will leave BWN at 00:30 on Saturdays, while the return flight BI122 will leave MAA at 4:20.

The aircraft is equipped with 12 Business Class seats and 138 Economy Class seats, including 16 Preferred seats with 32 inches of seat pitch, 12 extra legroom seats and 2 Bassinet seats.

Previously, BI had operated flights to Kolkata (CCU) until the end of 2004 and flew charter flights to India during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Royal Brunei Airlines’ fleet consists of 7 Airbus A320neo and 5 Boeing 787-8 and mainly serves destinations in Asia, Australia, the Middle East and the United Kingdom.

To support the expansion of its network and improve passenger comfort, the airline recently ordered four Boeing 787-9s during the Singapore Air Show 2024.
