Which airline special livery do you like best?

Which airline special livery do you like best?

AirAsia recently unveiled a new “Love, Singapore” livery on one of its Airbus A320 aircraft. The special livery was developed in collaboration with the Singapore Tourism Board, Gardens by the Bay and Mandai Wildlife Group to promote travel to Singapore. It is a charming and colourful new livery featuring a parrot, a panda, a giraffe and Merli, the official mascot of the Singapore Tourism Board. This cute cartoon character represents Singapore’s mythical national symbol, the Merlion, which has a lion’s head and a fish’s body.

Special liveries are often used by airlines to promote destinations and events. Southwest Airlines has had about twenty of them over the years, including the striking ombre “Imua One” livery on a 737 MAX 8 dedicated to the people of Hawaii. Alaska Airlines also has several aircraft with special liveries, including the orca-painted “West Coast Wonders” that celebrate the wildlife of the Pacific Northwest. Virgin Atlantic transformed one of its Boeing 747s (G-VLIP) into a flying billboard. During its service, it wore two special liveries: one to promote the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, and a second, in the “Millennium Falcon” livery, to promote the Ultimate Virgin Holidays Star Wars Experience. Brussels Airlines has its “Belgian Icons” liveries on Airbus A320ceo aircraft, including its newest aircraft, “Amare Tomorrowland.” ANA has its series of jets with Pokémon and Star Wars liveries. EVA Air has planes with Sanrio Hello Kitty.

With so many options, it’s hard to pick my favorite, but I’m leaning towards Alaska Airlines’ “West Coast Wonders” because the design was very complex.

Do you have a particular favorite airline livery? What makes it so special?
