Districts C and D received more calls than any other district. Overall, the number of non-urgent calls to 311 within 300 feet of a short-term rental was over 7,700 during the same period.

Sunday night’s shooting occurred in Precinct B, which has just over 600 short-term rental apartments, the fewest number per square mile compared to other precincts.

Houston officials are discussing tougher action on short-term rentals and, according to recent reports, could take action before the end of the year.
