BLISSFIELD – There are only a few days left for people to visit a solo art exhibition at Flatlander’s Art Galleries in Blissfield.
“The Sudden Flows of Creativity” is the title of abstract expressionist Dawud Shabazz’s exhibition, curated by Steven J. Athanas. The free exhibition is open to the public through Saturday, August 31, at the Flatlanders Art Galleries on the eastern edge of Blissfield, 11993 EUS 223. The exhibition opened on July 8 and included an opening reception on July 14.
Shabazz is a self-taught artist born in Detroit, Flatlanders said in a press release. His work has been exhibited at the Toledo Museum of Art as well as the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. He has received numerous awards and his work is widely collected.
“My primary intention is to capture the viewer’s eye. To spark a moment of serenity. To capture the viewer’s imagination,” Shabazz said in the press release. “My intention is to ensure my clients receive quality art that will last a lifetime. I put many hours and effort into each painting, which is made up of many layers of media and textures. Art is meant to last a lifetime so it can be passed down through generations. The sight and enjoyment of my paintings will always spark a conversation with the viewer’s eye.”

Flatlanders Arts Galleries is operated by Flatlanders Sculpture Supply, a full-service sculpture supplier in Lenawee County. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
