Big Green Top Merrimack 4-1

HANOVER, NH – The Dartmouth women’s soccer team defeated Merrimack 4-1 in its second home game of the year at Burnham Field on Sunday afternoon. The Big Green scored three goals in the second half to secure the win.

With the win, Dartmouth improves its record to 2-0. Merrimack, meanwhile, falls to 1-2. This win improves the Big Greens’ record between the programs to 7-0.


In the 12thth Game Minute, Senior Hannah Curtin crossed the ball to find fifth year Daisy Granholmwhen she headed the ball past the goalkeeper and scored her second goal of the season to make it 1-0. Towards the end of the first half in the 28th minute,th In the 13th minute, the Warriors equalized to 1:1 at halftime.

 

As the second half began, the Big Green were hungry for another scoring opportunity. Dartmouth repeatedly broke through the Merrimack defense and capitalized on a corner kick. In the 56th minute, the Big Green scored.th Minute, fifth year Taylor Williams scored her first career goal with the help of teammates, Granholm and fifth-grader Carly Rescuer2-1. Two minutes later, Retterer scored the third goal for the Big Green, hitting the top right corner to extend the lead to two goals, 3-1. The freshman player Emmanuella Frimpomaa found Ella Russ to score the last goal of the game, 4-1.

Dartmouth had more shots on goal than Merrimack (20:8) and had an 11:5 lead in shots on goal. The Big Green also had an 8:3 advantage over the Warriors in corner kicks.

goalkeeper Ally Connors faced eight shots and was able to parry four in the victory.

The Big Green will play again at Burnham Field on Thursday, August 29th at 7 p.m. The game can be streamed on ESPN+ and internationally on Stretch Internet.
