The Vikings’ quarterback room is hit again after JJ McCarthy’s injury as Jaren Hall suffers a leg injury

Minnesota Vikings‘ locker room is faced with uncertainty. At least in the QB department. Their 10th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, JJ McCarthymade a good impression at the season opener against Las Vegas RaidersBut three days later, things went downhill. He suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee. At first, it looked like the rookie would make a comeback, but tests revealed a serious setback. He had torn all of the cartilage. Surgery was performed to repair the injury, but McCarthy is out for the entire season. They thought that was all. Soldiers, prepare for the shock!

Another QB, Jaren Hallhas sustained an injury. This one is also on the leg. Hall showed fine movement during the games and seemed to be in the rhythm of the attack. But HC Kevin O’Connell announced that he (Hall) would play in the third warm-up game against the Philadelphia EaglesIn the 3rd quarter, Hall took a hard hit to the leg. Since he was slow to get back to his feet, he was immediately taken to the sideline and replaced by Matt Corral.

HC expressed his concerns about the QB, saying: “He’s got a little problem with his leg at the moment, but he’s just getting over it. Most likely we’ll see Matt Corral in the next series.“Hall completed 17 of 25 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns in the game before he was injured. While O’Connell did not mention the severity of the injury, Alec Lewis of the Athletics called it a minor injury.

While talking about Hall’s injury in his post-game podcast, The Alec Lewis ShowLewis said: “He got a little injured. It was a leg injury.“But he also described it as a blow to the team’s confidence. Hall’s performances in the last two pre-season games almost guaranteed him a place in the final squad. But this unexpected injury has thwarted their plans.

The Vikes know they have to rethink their strategies. Let’s see what options they have.

Nick Mullens has been with the team for two seasons. But he doesn’t inspire much confidence among the coaching staff. With only 20 games in seven seasons, he doesn’t have enough playing experience that the Vikings need. Let’s look at the next one. After JJ McCarthy was placed on the injured list, they signed Matt Corral. He was signed by the Carolina Panthers in 2022 and the New England Patriots in 2023, but hasn’t played a single NFL game yet. Tough times indeed!

The Vikings also have Sam Darnold, who will be playing his 7th NFL season this year. He is known as a dual-threat QB but has not won enough games. In his 6 previous seasons, his win-loss record is 21-35. But with no other QB available, the team might try to move on with him. There is no other choice as he is their most experienced signal caller.

With the season just days away, they will have to work out their strategy pretty quickly. Fans will hope they can find the right players.
