Dave Matthews Band made his semi-annual trip to the Denver area this weekend for a two-day trip to Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Greenwood Village, CO. The concerts took place at the end of DMB’s summer tour, which begins next weekend with the band’s annual Labor Day Weekend tour in The Gorge Amphitheatre in George, WA.

Fiddler’s Green has been a semi-regular stop for the Dave Matthews Band since 2015, with the band returning for two-night performances in 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022. Since the last visit to Greenwood Village, DMB released their tenth studio album, Walk around the moon. The setlists on Friday and Saturday, however, contained very few selections from the latest CD, only the title track, “Madman’s Eyes”, “Monsters” and “Break Free” appeared on both nights – the latter song, however, dates back to 2006. Instead, the Dave Matthews Band offered hits and familiarity from their entire 33-year career, from the chart-topper “Crash Into Me” and the classics “Ants Marching” and “The Space Between” to the old favorite “Joyride”, which was on stage for the first time since last year’s Gorge Summer evening.

The Dave Matthews Band also brought many of their live tricks, including a fakeout of Walk around the moon single “Madman’s Eyes”, which instead took a sharp detour to “Minarets” on the first night. The band also included nods to their influences by covering songs by Led Zeppelin, Small performance, Eric Claptonand more into the band’s own compositions. For the encore on Saturday, frontman Dave Matthews paid tribute to other hitmakers of the 90s Pearl Jam with a cover of “Just Breathe” before the weekend ended with “Grey Street”.
