Art walking tour offers a unique way to explore Paris

PARIS – Paris is one of the most famous and popular cities in the world. From the Eiffel Tower to the Palace of Versailles, there is so much to see! But what is the best way to explore the City of Lights?

KPRC 2 host Keith Garvin took part in an art walking tour where he not only learned how to sketch but also learned about the famous Montmartre neighborhood.

It was led by artist and entrepreneur Evelyne Mazzallon, founder and owner of iN Arts, which offers artistic workshops.

“Today you will be an artist in Montmartre for a whole day,” said Mazzallon at the start of the tour. “The purpose of this tour is to discover Paris. To get to know the Montmartre district. Above all, the artists who once lived here.”

It was a unique and fun – if not exactly challenging – way to learn about the City of Light. Especially for Keith, who admittedly isn’t much of an artist. But Mazzallon is a talented and patient teacher.

“When you draw, you have to make a decision. And it’s your decision,” Mazzallon said. “You have to decide before you put the first line on your paper. It’s about proportion and composition.”

But remember, the goal is to learn about Paris. Keith’s tour was about the Paris district of Montmartre.

“This is where Picasso settled when he arrived in Paris,” explained Mazzallon. “This is where he painted the famous painting Les Demoiselles d’Avignon. He lived here.”

It is certainly a practical way to visit one of the most famous cities in the world.

“The idea is to discover Paris, to discover France and to discover French culture through this artistic practice,” said Mazzallon.”

Mazzallon leads her art walking tours in neighborhoods all over Paris, including some classes at the famous Louvre. If you’re ever in Paris and would like to book a tour with her, you can schedule one through her LinkedIn profile here.
