Etala says he has no other job than party work

Hyderabad: BJP national executive member and Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajendar on Sunday said the future of a political party depends on the commitment of its leaders and workers and he has no other duty than to work for the party.

The former minister attended the party’s membership drive in Rangareddy district and said, “I have no other job than to engage in party work. The image of the party leader will help the party. The future of the party depends on the commitment of the party leaders and party workers.”

Noting that the BJP is in a strong position in Hyderabad with a number of MPs and councillors, he said that BJP workers should not behave like spectators. “We have to question the government when it is working against the interests of the public. In the last Lok Sabha elections, we got 35 per cent of the votes and that made it clear that the voters are behind the BJP.”

Rajendar’s comments suggested that he is interested in taking over the leadership of the party.

He asked the party workers to continue their agitation on the six guarantees, 66 promises and 420 measures that the Congress had promised before the general elections but failed to implement.

The Board of State Banks had said that 7.2 million farmers in the state had availed bank loans. Before the assembly elections, the Congress had said that 6.5 million farmers had availed loans. After coming to power, Revanth Reddy said that 4.9 million farmers had availed bank loans. Congress leaders also gave contradictory figures on the amount of loans: Rs 43,000 crore, Rs 34,000 crore and Rs 31,000 crore. But the state government finally provided only Rs 17,000 crore in additional benefits, he said.

Rajender said former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao took a long time to lose the confidence of voters, but just eight months after coming to power, people started hating the Revanth Reddy government.

Stating that HYDRAA is trying to grab people’s attention, the BJP leader said that Revanth Reddy is using a number of tricks to divert people’s attention. He may be temporarily successful in doing so, but he cannot escape the wrath of the people.

Rajendar also demanded a review of GO 111, which prohibits construction activities in the Osmansagar and Himayatsagar catchment areas.

He said that several important facilities, including the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad and IT towers, fall under the limits of GO 111. Authorities claim that all constructions falling under the limits of GO 111 are illegal. “It is wrong to think that the government can take over any land and demolish any building. This GO should not be misused for political purposes.”

He said many water bodies have disappeared in Hyderabad. Several nalas, including the Firangi Nala near Hitec City, have disappeared.

The BJP leader criticised the government’s land policy, which is causing problems to innocent people.

“When it came to five acres of land near Saroornagar Lake, the revenue department blacklisted 100 acres. People who own land and flats are unable to sell them or get bank loans due to the unilateral approach of the state government,” Rajendar said.

“It would be a big mistake to support Revenath Reddy for his current approach. How many plots and houses which were given LRS and BRS about 30 years ago have now become government land,” he asked.

The state government has declared many houses in LB Nagar and Uppal districts as waqf areas. These houses have received all approvals from various government departments, he said.
