Whale by a candidate: There is an animal story (i.e. a mammal story) by RFK Jr. – and it is stranger than the bear

How long will it be before the story comes out that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. kept a pet koala that tragically died when it fell from a tree and eventually became a prize-winning casserole at a local county fair?

Because if you thought the story about the bear in Central Park was odd, or the photo of him with the grilled carcass of a dog—or was it a goat?—was odd, or his brain worm disease explained a lot of things… well, it seems we all missed another of RFK Jr.’s adventures from the wild kingdom, revealed in a 2012 profile by his daughter Kick, and it’s a hell of a story:

Kick’s penchant for the extreme was fed by her father’s eccentric environmentalism. Exhibit A: When she was six, word got around that a dead whale had washed up on Squaw Island in Hyannis Port. Bobby – who loves studying animal skulls and skeletons – ran to the beach with a chainsaw, cut off the whale’s head, then tied it with a bungee cord to the roof of the family minivan for the five-hour drive back to Mount Kisco, New York. “Every time we accelerated on the highway, whale juice would run into the windows of the car and it was the most disgusting thing in the world,” Kick recalls. “We all had plastic bags over our heads with mouth holes cut out and people on the highway would give us the middle finger, but that was just normal everyday stuff for us.”

Kick Kennedy is also in the news today for another reason: She may be helping Ben Affleck get over his estranged wife Jennifer Lopez, who has filed for divorce.

Kick and Affleck have been spotted in and around Los Angeles, a source told Page Six. The nature of her relationship with Affleck, 52, has not been confirmed, but they may be discussing a future film role.

At the time of the profile, Town and Country magazine called RFK’s daughter a “committed environmentalist (and) aspiring actress.” Although she stays out of politics, she has since appeared in minor television roles, including as an extra on HBO’s “Drop It, Larry!”, which starred her stepmother, Cheryl Hines.

Back in 2012, T&C said Kick “shaken up the area with her laughter and determination.”

Yet 12 years later, few people with the Kennedy name laugh at RFK Jr., who is trying hard to destroy the family’s sacred political legacy with vaccine conspiracies, anti-Semitism, spin, and support for Donald Trump – the Republican ex-president and Republican candidate, a convicted felon, mastermind of a failed coup attempt, sex offender, liar, and fellow conspiracy theorist.

Kennedy’s family has been torpedoing RFK Jr.’s independent presidential bid for months, believing it was launched to split the Democratic vote and facilitate Trump’s re-election. The family’s relentless attack, abetted by RFK Jr.’s craziness and Kamala Harris’ entry into the race, has destroyed his small base of support.

And after offering himself to Democrats as a possible member of Harris’ Cabinet and not even getting a call back, Kennedy endorsed Trump on Friday. The meaningless announcement made no difference, according to polling website FiveThirtyEight.

“Our brother Bobby’s decision to endorse Trump today is a betrayal of the values that are most important to our father and our family,” Kerry Kennedy, president of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, wrote in a statement on X, formerly Twitter. “It is a sad end to a sad story.”
