Jay Blades is best known as the presenter of the BBC’s The Repair Shop. The television personality has built an impressive career with his incredible furniture restorations, which have propelled him to television fame.
Jay, 54, has also starred in Jay Blades’ Money for Nothing and Home Fix, and teamed up with acting legend David Jason for the BBC One show David and Jay’s Touring Toolshed.
The show, which returns to BBC One on Friday 23 August, sees David and Jay meet talented craftspeople at the Royal Three Counties Show in Malvern. There’s no doubt the show will be entertaining as both David and Jay are popular with viewers at home.
Given Jay’s incredible eye for furniture and ability to restore just about anything, it’s no surprise that his own home is extremely chic. The TV star is said to be living in Ironbridge, Shropshire, after moving from Wolverhampton.
He previously lived with his wife Lisa-Marie Zbozen, but the couple ended their marriage earlier this year. It was previously reported that 43-year-old Lisa moved out of the home she shared with Jay.
Jay has given his fans a glimpse into the cozy home in the past and also spoke about the interior in a post for HouseBeautiful last year. The 54-year-old described the location as “really beautiful” and revealed that his home is “in the middle of the countryside.”
Describing his living room, he revealed that he has an extensive vinyl collection that takes up a lot of space. Jay said: “I spend most of my time in the living room with my record player. It’s pretty sparse with two chairs as I don’t have a sofa.”
He added: “It’s mainly decorated with records, there’s an obscene amount of records there, maybe around 3,000.”
The cosy space is the perfect place to relax, with its minimalist decor and modern furniture. Jay said: “We have white walls and one side is exposed brickwork. Then we have wooden floors and a marble table where the speakers sit. There’s a TV on the wall and all the shelves are covered with vinyl records.”
He further revealed that he likes “plain and simple” interiors and is not a huge fan of colour, usually opting for black and white. Many items in his home also have sentimental value or tell interesting stories, including a dusting brush given to him by his daughter and a rare vintage chair he bought at auction for just £7.
Jay’s home was previously featured in his hour-long documentary, “Jay Blades: Learning To Read at 51,” which aired in 2022. The show documented Jay’s difficult journey as he tried to learn to read later in life. He appeared alongside his ex-wife Lisa, and the couple gave viewers a glimpse into their home.
The house has an extremely well-kept front garden surrounded by a thick hedge that allows them to maintain their privacy. The front door is bright white with a black frame and the two windows at the front of the house also have a matching paint finish.
