In his opening speech, Tran Trung Hieu, deputy director of the city’s tourism authority, said the annual event aims to promote the capital’s image as a safe, friendly, high-quality and attractive destination to attract more visitors to Hanoi during the National Day (August 31 to September 3). It also aims to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the city’s Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 – 2024) and respond to the “Vietnam Visit Year” – Dien Bien 2024.
The three-day festival introduces Vietnamese-branded tourism gifts to domestic and foreign tourists, promotes the industry and helps strengthen tourism and cultural links.
In addition, it will help preserve, appreciate and bring into play the unique values of local cultural heritage and traditional crafts in tourism development, Hieu said.
This year’s festival, which includes 70 to 80 stalls, highlights typical Hanoi dishes and promotes food tours – a tourism trend in many countries. Visitors can learn not only about food and drink, but also about the cultural identity and community life at the destination, helping them discover the cultural story of Hanoi behind each gift.
Various activities are planned during the festival, including the display of exquisite tourism gifts, the introduction of tours, the offering of tour vouchers and the launch of promotional programs of local travel companies, as well as street circus, hip hop and flash mob performances./. VNA
