Interior views of a young San Francisco architect’s dream apartment in Mission style

The focal point of the home is the street-facing double parlor that houses the living and dining rooms. A deep, molten red covers the walls to just above the middle. A second shade draws the eye to the 11-foot ceilings. In the dining room, it’s a smoky navy blue, while the living room gets a lighter creamy white. On a custom daybed in the deep bay window, you’ll most likely find Sheth cuddling his dog, Gilligan, next to a custom ashtray with cup holder.

Pride of place on a coffee table is occupied by a striking and somewhat sinister-looking vase filled with serpentine lotus flowers, with jointed serpents carved from wood forming the vessel’s ribs. Sheth’s art collection is not the kind that fades into the background or complements the carpet.

Since his time at CCA, he has become part of an ever-growing swarm of local artists. In addition to collecting for himself and his clients, he recently began curating hip, offbeat art shows in San Francisco and LA. Caleb Ferris’ snake vase, “Heads and Tails,” was part of Sheth’s recent group show, “Vessel,” which featured 27 artists with roots in the Bay Area and will be resurrected through September. Then, a selection of the pieces will be displayed in small shops and galleries around the Bay, including The Sidewalk Flowers in Cole Valley, the concept shop Strip Mall in Lower Nob Hill, LNB Atelier in China Basin, and Verso, a studio warehouse in West Oakland.
