A Lawrence man was arrested in New Hampshire last weekend for driving the wrong way on Interstate 93 while drunk. It was one of two such arrests within a three-hour period on the busy highway, authorities said Friday.

Julio Florentino, 68, is believed to have been driving in the northbound lane near Exit 1 in Salem, NH, around 11:45 p.m. Saturday, New Hampshire State Police said in a statement.

State police received multiple reports of a wrong-way driver. Officers stopped Florentino north of Exit 2, the statement said.

A breathalyzer test reportedly revealed that Florentino’s breath alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit. He was arrested for drunk driving and reckless conduct – with a deadly weapon (a vehicle), the statement said.

He is scheduled to appear in court in September, the statement said.

Just hours later, state police officers responded at 2:45 a.m. Sunday morning to a report of a motorist traveling north in the southbound lane near Exit 5 in Londonderry, the statement said.

State police received calls from drivers reporting that they allegedly nearly collided with another vehicle before leaving the road.

The police stopped the vehicle on the median.

Alexis Rodriguez, 26, of Loudon, NH, was arrested for drunken driving and reckless conduct – with a deadly weapon (a vehicle), the statement said.

She also has to appear in court in September.
