Céline Dion’s management team has asked Donald Trump’s campaign team to stop using her most popular song at its rallies.

“(On Saturday) Céline Dion’s management team and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., became aware of the unauthorized use of the video, recording, musical performance and image of Céline Dion singing ‘My Heart Will Go On’ at a Donald Trump/JD Vance campaign rally in Montana,” the management group posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).

This is not the first time that musicians have asked the Republican candidate to stop using their songs during his presidential campaign.

In 2020, Canadian-born singer Neil Young filed a lawsuit against Trump’s presidential campaign for allegedly playing “Rockin’ in the Free World” and another song played at rallies without permission. Young eventually withdrew the lawsuit.

Also in 2020, the family of the late American singer Tom Petty sent a cease-and-desist letter to the Trump campaign team after it used his song “I Won’t Back Down” at a rally in Tulsa.

During the Republican National Convention four years ago, representatives of Leonard Cohen’s estate criticized Trump for using his song Hallelujah. In a letter to Republicans at the time, Cohen’s estate reminded them that they had not authorized the use of the song.
